Bermudan winger earns Bromley deal

Bermuda international winger Quadir Maynard has been handed a deal until the end of the season by Blue Square Bet South club Bromley.

Maynard was in a race against time to win a deal in English football being in his final year of his development contract at Hayes Lane.

The 18-year-old made an encouraging start to the campaign, scoring against Basingstoke’s Academy before heading home to Bermuda for his international debut against Guyana last month.

But he knows the hard work had only just begun and accepts he must strive for greater consistency than he showed last term if he is to attract the interest of a League club.

The former Boulevard man had a training stint at npower League One side Charlton Athletic last season.

Maynard came on as a second half substitute in Bermuda’s World Cup qualifier against Guyana and set up his side’s goal.

He said he was satisfied with his brief cameo display and hoped to part of Bermuda’s next games – a double-header against Barbados.

Maynard joined Bromley on the recommendation of Bermuda Football Association (BFA) technical director Derek Broadley, a former colleague of the club’s Academy coach Murray Jones.
